#TeamProlinx supporting charity fundraising
This year members of the Prolinx team have again been taking part in fundraising events for some very worthy causes, these include:
- The Bisley annual clay pigeon shoot for Teenage Cancer Trust
- The Distinguished Gentlemen’s ride supporting Men’s mental health and Prostate Cancer
- Whizz Kidz creating opportunities for young wheelchair users
A big thank you to everyone within #teamprolinx who sponsored and supported your team mates.
David Carr (pictured right) took part in the Bisley Shoot for Teenage Cancer Trust:
David says “Once again three friends and I supported the Teenage Cancer Trust at Bisley Shooting Ground. As always, a lot of money raised for the charity with an additional £50,000 raised in the auction after lunch. It was truly inspiring to hear from a young lady who was diagnosed at the age of 16 and how the Charity helped her enormously. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house…”
Event history
Dr Adrian Whiteson OBE has been running the annual clay shoot for more than 25 years and has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds over the years for young people with cancer.
The previous event in 2023, raised a grand total of £85,387 which will help fund specialist nursing and youth teams that support young people with cancer through treatment, as well as funding for Teenage Cancer Trust hospital units across the UK for young patients.
Why Support Teenage Cancer Trust
We create world class cancer services for young people in the UK, providing life-changing care and support so young people don’t have to face cancer alone.
Every day, seven young people aged 13-24 hear the words “you have cancer”. They will each need specialised nursing care and support to get them through the toughest times they may have faced.
We’re the only UK charity dedicated to meeting this vital need. By choosing to run for Teenage Cancer Trust, you can help us to reach every young person facing cancer and make a huge difference.
Steve Andrews took part in the 2023 Distinguished Gentlemen’s Ride.
Steven says “My second year taking part in DGR, and the most successful for the Cheltenham group to date, with over 200 rides taking part and supporting the cause riding for Prostate Cancer and Men’s Mental Health, to date we have raised over £20,000 which is absolutely amazing”
“The weather yet again was thankfully kind to us, a little warmer than last year, although still very fresh in the morning on the way to the meeting point! Lots of people came to support and take part in the launch, including local police riders who helped to stop traffic and allow everyone to leave the starting point together and safely.”
Congratulations Steve for participating in such an event for great causes.

Riding dapper for a cause
The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride unites classic and vintage styled motorcycle riders from all over the world to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer research and men’s mental health.
The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride was founded in Sydney, Australia, by Mark Hawwa. It was inspired by a photo of TV Show Mad Men’s Don Draper astride a classic bike and wearing his finest suit. Mark decided a themed ride would be a great way of connecting niche motorcycle enthusiasts and communities while raising funds to support the men in our lives.

Just a quick note to say thanks for all your support and donations for the London Marathon.
I’m pleased to say I completed it and have ticked it off the list now 😊 as expected it was tough, but the experience and the support from the crowds was amazing!
I was even caught in the act on BBC a couple of times 😊
Thanks to all the kind donations, with Gift Aid we raised around £3,850 for the Whizz Kidz charity – thank you!!
Thanks again for all the support!
Well done Gary for raising funds and completing the your first London Marathon for a fantastic charity.
Whizz Kidz vision is a society in which every young wheelchair user is mobile, enabled and included.
We create opportunities for young wheelchair users to get the equipment, skills, and confidence to go further.
Why does Whizz Kidz exist?
- We are the UK’s leading charity for young wheelchair users.
- More than 75,000 young people in the UK need a wheelchair to be mobile.
- Most have no access to a wheelchair that’s right for them, leaving them at risk of social isolation, poor mental health, and physical injury. We want to change that.
- As the UK’s leading charity supporting young wheelchair users up to 25 years old, we provide them with the equipment and skills they need to live life as independently as possible. To enjoy all the opportunities and activities that so many others take for granted ‐ at home, at school, at work and beyond.
